1996 Ferrari F355 GTS

After many year's training and practicing on the sport cars diagnosing, testing and repairing, we have finally got our hand on a legendary classic Italian super car Ferrari F355! This 1996 F355 (2.7 Motronic ECU) is specially different to the other later F355 (5.2 Motronic ECU), it is half mechanical and half computer machine which produces a brutal power to get 1/4 mile in 12.7 sec rather than the later F355 13.2 sec. The later F355 is designed to meet the new EC regulation to cut down the emissions; therefore the power has been massively reduced. This section will be showing all the process of the works which we are going to become involved in and will finally recondition it back to 90's supercar showroom condition.

12/06/2012 The "BEAST" has finally come out from the RED Ferrari cover.

21/06/12 Removed left hand side intake box and Air flow meter.

Revmoved centre coolant tank and top of intake manifold.

Compeletly removed the left side intake manifold box and engine cover.

23/06/12 Removed right hand side intake box and Air flow meter.

Compeletly removed the right hand side intake manifold box.

Removed the right hand side engine cover.

Old and flakey engine covers and gaskets for both side are worn, caused oil leak.

07/0712 Removed underside panels and checking oil leaks from the working pit.

Fully powder coated engine covers have returned.

Brand new engine cover gaskets and O rings.

24/07/2012 Cleaned and de greased left hand side cylinder head surface.

Cleaned and de greased right hand side cylinder head surface.

Cleaned and degreased right intake manifolds and cover.

Repainted the sliver lines.

Applied sealant on the engine cover gasket.

Gaskets fitted on the left hand sider cylinder head with sealants.

Applied sealant on the left hand side engine cover.

Refitted the left hand side engine cover.

Tested the gasket fitment before fit it on the right hand side cylinder head.

Gaskets fitted on the right hand sider cylinder head with sealants.

Applied sealant on the right hand side engine cover.

Refitted the right hand side engine cover.

Both sides done!!

25/07/12 Fully degreased and cleaned the engine bay.

Brand new Ferrari spark plug cover gaskets.

Right hand side Ferrari spark plug cover gasket fitted on + refitted the HT leads.

Right hand side Ferrari spark plug cover refitted it.

Right hand side injector rubbers perished.

New speical heat wrap tapes have applied to injector rubbers. (RH)

Right hand side intake manifold refitted.

Left hand side HT leads, sprak plug gasket and cover fitted it + injector rubbers perished.

New speical heat wrap tapes have applied to injector rubbers. (LH)

Left hand side intake manifold refitted.

26/07/12 Both intake manifolds re fitted + copper greased the throttle linkages.

Left hand side induction system refitted.

Right hand side induction system refitted.

Waiting for fully WD40 polish.

Fully degreased and cleaned underneath of engine and gearbox. (Yellow stuffs are waxoil)

27/07/12 Waxoiled all the area which have sign of rusts.

Refitted the underneath aero flat panel.

This is not just a normal flat panel; it is aero panel with NASA duct.

Right hand side aero diffuser refitted.

Left hand side aero diffuser refitted.

Both diffuser refitted.

Fully WD40 polished engine bay!!

All done, checked and tested - all works.

Ferrari F355 has very common problem for oil leak from where the gearlever goes into the gearbox. In this album – I will show you how I did it to change oil seal and dust boot (step by step). Hope this help if you have the same problem with your F355. If every thing goes alright – you should be able to do the job around 1 hour.
